Getting Started: Northwest Crossfit

Most of you know that I’m a huge fan of Crossfit. I’ve been doing it for a little over a year now and it’s truly been a game-changer for me.

I’ve been lucky enough to work with Owner/Founder, Jake Platt on marketing for his gym, Northwest Crossfit. I’ve helped document some events using my photography and video skills and it’s always a lot of fun putting these together. When Jake asked me to help create a “Getting Started” video, I was thrilled.

Everyone thinks Crossfit is crazy. Now, part of it is. Some of the athletes that do Crossfit are borderline freaks. However, that’s just who lands on the front page. Crossfit is for everyone, young and old fit or fat. It’s a whole different game than going to the gym. This video was created to help spread that word and break down the barriers of intimidation.  Those who can benefit the most from Crossfit tend to be too scared to even give it a shot.

Aside from being an amazing workout, Crossfit is  by far the most mentally challenging yet rewarding thing I’ve ever done IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. Before almost every workout I think to myself “I can’t do that”. During that workout I think “There’s no way I can finish this”.   After the workout, I say “Holy shit! I just completed that workout!” Think if you could apply that way of thinking to everything in your life. Your diet, your job, and your relationships. How much in your life is held back because you say “I can’t.”? Crossfit has shown me how strong I am and how much I can contribute. Crossfit has changed my life. It’s a community full of inspiration and doing things you never thought were possible.

I have so many people always ask me about Crossfit and I truly hope this video helps tell the story of what it is and how it’s for everyone. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated for not only myself, but for Jake. It’s his mission to help people get fit and conquer their own lives.

Feel free to drop by the gym and chat with one of the coaches. Take a free class and see if Crossfit is for you! Also, please share this video out to your network. If you know someone trying to get in shape or make a life change, this could be a great fit for them! There are facebook/twitter buttons on the bottom of the page so click away!

That’s great to hear! You definitely should! It’s helped my snowboarding a lot too. Really built up my endurance and ability to land things I couldn’t in the past.
